Window Film
The solution to a wide variety of designer challenges!

Most people have a limited view of what window film is, and what it does. Dark windows you see on Limousines, or the mirrored looking glass on some commercial building, is the first thing that comes to mind, when window film is mentioned. The applications for window film reach far beyond these pre-conceived notions.

The use of window film in residential and commercial buildings continues to increase for many reasons. Homeowners and facility managers commonly turn to window film to solve both sun control and design problems. The primary reasons for the use of window film remains protection from the damaging aspects of the sun and energy savings. However, technical evolution has brought to the market a wide range of specialty films to answer specific and varied needs.

Today, window film is being used to provide individuality to interior offices, partitioned office areas, and glass entranceways. Simulating etched glass and patterned films are available. Even custom designs, such as borders, accents, landscapes, or corporate logos are available. These designer films are an attractive and cost-effective alternative to treated glass.

For the commercial client, improving the appearance of a building is another reason to turn to window film. A highly reflective film can deliver a clean homogenous look, eliminating windowsill clutter, drapery and blinds opened to various degrees, and cluttered storage areas. The same film can reduce heat gain and glare by as much as 80%. This translates into, not only energy savings, but, increased productivity, as well. Employees are more comfortable. Computer screens are easier to read, and eye strain is reduced.

The residential client will primarily be concerned with the protection window film can give. Vista window film, for instance, reduces Ultra-Violet penetration by 99.9%. This can be accomplished with virtually no change in the appearance of the glass. That means that damage to carpets, furniture, woodwork, antiques, wallpaper, and artwork is almost totally eliminated.

I'm sure that all of you at one time or another have had questions about the use and effectiveness of window film.
